DETOX THE CONFLICT IN YOUR LIFE AND
BUSINESS FOR SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS
BUSINESS FOR SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS
Whether we’re in the boardroom, breakroom, courtroom, high school cafeteria, holiday dinner table, or anywhere else where humans interact, the same patterns of conflict play out repeatedly. While many fear conflict, the reality is that embracing conflict in a healthy way is the single greatest factor in driving success and avoiding failure. Just as toxins in our bodies make us unhealthy, slow us down, and cause us pain, the same holds true for toxins in our organizations and minds. They feed destructive conflict, which consumes an organization’s energy and taxes its ability to compete, grow, and prosper. Team engagements become pained, client relationships are strained, and individual careers suffer. The same unhealthy dynamics play out in our personal lives as well.
The key to making conflict work for our benefit lies in removing toxins from our interactions, and Don’t Get Mad at Penguins offers simple yet powerfully effective tools to do just that.

About the Author
Gabe is an Operating Partner at Detroit Venture Partners, a Detroit-based venture capital firm that backs early-stage technology companies. He is also a Venture Partner at Lightbank, a Chicago-based venture capital firm. He serves on several boards of companies in the DVP and Lightbank portfolios.
Previously, Gabe was the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of ePrize, Inc. (now Merkle), an interactive promotions company representing 75 of the top 100 brands in the world. Gabe was instrumental in growing the company from a small start up to one of the world's premier companies in its space. He led the efforts on multiple acquisitions, financings, credit facilities, and ultimately the sale of the company to a large private equity firm. Gabe has built and led successful teams, negotiated business and finance deals in the hundreds of millions of dollars, and frequently speaks on embracing healthy conflict
Crain’s Business named Gabe as General Counsel of the Year for the state of Michigan in 2011 (for privately held companies valued under $1B). Gabe’s excellence in the legal field was demonstrated by his unprecedented record of personally overseeing the legal clearance of more than 13,000 interactive promotions in 44 countries for many of the largest brands in the world with zero legal challenges. He co-authored Puerto Rico's revised sweepstakes regulations adopted in 2009, and has consulted the Federal Trade Commission as well as legislators and regulators in many states on drafting and enforcing legislation in those jurisdictions applicable to the interactive promotion industry.
Gabe spent the first decade of his professional life as a trial lawyer/litigator. He was a partner and shareholder of Hurwitz, Karp, Wallach & Gantz, P.C. His practice included complex commercial litigation, class-action litigation and legal malpractice (suing other lawyers for screwing up)— talk about conflict!
Gabe and his wife Rachel have three wonderful daughters, and is an avid heli-skier (Yep, that's skiing from a helicopter).
